Is it strange for a weight loss coach to start her blog with a note about body positivity? I hope not, because here we go. I have lots of thoughts, and am pretty excited about having a place to share them.
The first thing I tell all my clients is that we have to release ourselves from any shame we carry about our weight. Our culture tells us that if our bodies are too big, we are worth less, and that if we can't lose weight, it's our fault. People assume we don't have enough willpower, or we just don't try hard enough.
This isn't true (more on that later), but even more than that, it's just generally awful.
YOU ARE FABULOUS AND BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.
If you never lose any weight, you will still be fabulous and worthwhile and a wonderful human.
Loving yourself just the way you are is the first step to being able to make the needed changes in your lifestyle to take better care of yourself and your body.
I am a weight loss coach for one reason, and it has nothing to do with believing people should wear a specific size. When you have overweight or obesity, eating more healthily and losing weight leads to better health. And I care about better health.
You do not need to get down to a specific weight, either. Studies show that a weight loss of 5-10% will lead to improved health. That's all you need.
